Safe Work Systems Coordinator


 

About the opportunity

In your role as Safe Work Systems Coordinator, you will manage and deliver systems that will reduce the health and safety risk in all aspects of works undertaken in the Pulp division. You will be involved with systems such as permit to work, job safety analysis and standard operating procedures. You will engage with employees and contractors mentoring them on the appropriate health and safety processes for their required job. Through this role you will learn the functionality of the plant to be able to best advise the safest way of working and identify relevant hazards. Although you will be working within standards and procedures you will encounter a variety of different situations which are dealt with on a case-by-case basis with consideration given to all factors to ensure all standards are met and the most appropriate procedure followed. Day to day could see you at your desk or out on the plant. This role is a day position with the start time variable between 5.30am & 8.00am. You will be based at our Whirinaki site located 15 minutes north of Napier.

About you

You ideally have experience in a health and safety role.
You also have:

  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • a background in health & safety or trades
  • experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • a high level of energy and composure during times of pressure
  • the ability to relate to and build positive relationships with all levels in an organisation
  • a methodical approach
  • experience influencing and training people
  • experience working with risk management practices would be advantageous
  • a passion for health & safety
